2017 Short Term Missions Offering | May 6 & 7
Short term mission trips are a great way for our people to gain exposure to God at work in the world and catch first hand His vision for the nations. Based on the age-group and location, we do our best to design trips to help our students and adults wrestle with their role in God’s global plan. I’m so excited that this year as a church we have the opportunity to send missions teams to the Twin Cities, Guatemala, Turkey, and locally right here in the Quad Cities! Sending is one of the great privileges and responsibilities given to the local church: sending out teams of our people with our prayers, our love, and our finances. We want our teams to know that their church is behind them fully as they go out from us to represent Christ and support the work God is already doing on the ground.
One of the ways we want to send and support our teams is through our Short Term Missions Offering. Our desire is to utilize this offering to help offset some of the expenses for our teams as they go. It is our heart to give everyone within our church the opportunity to support these teams. Please be in prayer of how God would have you participate and, if you feel led, come prepared to give beyond your normal tithe and offering during services on May 6 & 7.
Until then, be in prayer for our teams as they are starting to come together for training. Pray that God would bring them together for effective ministry, His glory, and their greatest good!

PLEASE BE IN PRAYER
Pray for Our Elder Candidate: Dan Reilly
Dan Reilly is currently being considered as an elder. At Harvest, elders are responsible for doctrine, direction, and discipline. Would you please pray for him and consider whether he is equal to the position based on the qualifications in Titus 1:5-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, and 1 Peter 5:1-3?
If you have any concerns or are aware of any issues that would affect his fruitful service as an elder, please approach him directly and lovingly in the spirit of Matthew 18:15-17.
Pray for Our Local Outreach Partners
We are thankful for the ministry of each of our local partners throughout the Quad Cities: One Eighty, Pregnancy Resources, Safe Families, World Relief, and YouthHope. Please pray for the staff and volunteers as they serve our community as the hands and feet of Jesus. Ask that God would give them strength to press on as they share His love with refugees, recovering addicts, those coming out of jail, families and children in crisis, and others who so often get overlooked by our society. Praise God for the life changing growth that happens as He works through each of our local partners.
Pray for Our Initiatives:
Ten Missionaries in Ten Years
Josh & Ally Penn | Radius Fund
One of the key Ten-in-Ten initiatives of our church is to send out ten missionaries in the next ten years. We are preparing to send our first family, Josh & Ally Penn, to Radius International—a 10-month missions training which begins this July. God has done some really amazing things in these past few months in the lives of Josh and Ally:
• They sold their house within one day of listing it
• They hit their first financial goal of $30,000
• They have just a small amount left to raise in preparation for their training
We want to thank you for your generous response in being a part of sending the Penns from our church. Please continue to pray for their family and consider giving regularly to the Radius Fund—above and beyond your normal tithes and offerings—to send more families as part of our Ten-in-Ten Initiative.
To send the Penns and families like them from our church:
• Give a one-time or monthly recurring gift online through your My Harvest portal (fund designation: Radius Fund)
• Give a one-time gift online as a guest
• Mail or deliver a check made payable to Harvest Bible Chapel to the church office (memo: Radius Fund)
Radius International provides 10 months of pre-field missions training that will equip cross-cultural workers with the necessary competencies and character to establish healthy, indigenous, reproducing churches among unreached people groups.
