To glorify God by fulfilling Christ’s Great Commission to go and make disciples in the spirit of Christ’s Great Commandment.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
– Matthew 28:19-20 –
It is our desire for people by grace, through faith, to profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We believe that worshiping Christ, walking with Christ, and working for Christ are the evidences of a disciple of Jesus Christ. We as a church are all about biblical, expository preaching, Christ-centered worship, powerful prayer, and the bold sharing of the good news of Jesus Christ.
To glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment (Matthew 28:19-20, Matthew 22:37-39).
Our Four Pillars
These pillars describe the kind of church and ministry that we believe God blesses (1 Corinthians 3:6). Stripping down all systems, lists, programs, and agendas, these are the pillars of ministry that rest upon Jesus Christ, our firm foundation.
Proclaiming the authority of God's Word without apology – 2 Timothy 4:2
Lifting high the name of Jesus through worship – John 4:23-24
Believing firmly in the power of prayer – Ephesians 6:18
Sharing the good news of Jesus with boldness – Ephesians 6:19-20
Our 3 W's: Worship, Walk, Work
THE PATH OF AUTHENTIC DISCIPLESHIP COMMANDS A LIFETIME OF FOLLOWING
Maturing disciples go through a continual refining process known as sanctification. This simply means becoming more and more like the Lord. We like to describe this as worshiping, walking, and working for Christ. When we become intentional about seeking to honor God in these three ways, we can't help but become "mature in Christ" (Colossians 1:28), growing deeper in our relationship with God, and our relationships with others.
Disciple-making is to be worked out together in ministry to one another. We believe it's not about one or a small number of pastors bearing the total responsibility to care for the entire congregation (Ephesians 4:11-12). Rather it's about all disciples using their God-given spiritual gifts to provide mutual ministry, in the context of a vibrant and strong local church.
This is the framework that every ministry here at Harvest Bible Chapel – Davenport is built around.
